Saturday 7th August - Stirrup Cup Music Festival
The Stirrup Cup is introducing its first music festival, with 8 live bands performing from 12.30 until 11pm. With quality acts from all over the South West and a couple of local surprises, this is going to be more Womad then Reading. Charlies famous burgers will be flying off the BBQ in the garden and music will be in the car park. Come along and get those feet tapping and hands clapping!
Tickets £8 before 6pm, £10 after. Senior Citizens and 13 - 16's £5, under 13's free
The running order and band details are as follows;
12.30pm Cotswold Big Band - Probably the best big band in the South West, if there were a roof they'd raise it! The certainly won't all fit on the stage. You won't hear any Glen Miller here, but great tunes from the modern big band repertoire. A rare opportunity to hear a top quality big band letting rip.
2.00pm The Charms - Rarely at music fesstivals do up and coming youngsters get a feature. Here we've got Laurie McCroddan and Max Simpson. Great talents for the future, playing some of their own compositions.
2.30pm Lunar Fire - They've been the stars of the summer revues for the past two years, so we couldn't possibly miss them out. Songs by Snow Patrol, Radiohead and Stereophonics are bound to feature.
3.30pm Mundo Pequeno - Meaning 'Small World' in Portuguese the bands name reflects their mutual love of different music from around the globe. With a heady mix of Latin grooves and African rhythms, Mundo Pequeno's music has the power to move both your heart and your feet.
5.00pm Zanzibar - Regulars ar the Stirrup, with local Mike Waite on bass. Driving Latin, playing great tunes from Brazil, guaranteed to get your hips swaying and the Pina Coladas flowing.
6.30pm Kyotie - Intelligent, modern country roak. If Nashville was in South West England then this is what radio-friendly pop music would sound like. Featuring Claire Gaynor and local resident bassist/vocalist Paul Bryant, Kyotie will make a lot of tuneful noise and win many hearts.
8.00pm Rob Crisp Band - Blues, rosk and more - a band lead by ace singer and harmonica player Rob Crisp and featuring Mike Duff, sometimes landlord of the Kings Head, on guitar. Bound to get everyone dancing.
9.30pm - Silver 'B's - born out of the swamps of the Avon delta, the duelling archtop guitars of Denny Ilett and Dave Archer are supported by the upright Bass of Andy Lowe and former Rogue Dolls, Tammy Payne on Drums and the sassy vocals of Katya Gorrie up front.

The Stirrup Cup has great facilities should you wish to hold a private function - with our main function room holding up to 100 people for buffet, and the restaurant which can hold up to 40 people for a sit-down meal. We can decorate the rooms to suit your theme.
